If you have an eye for birds, spotting them, albeit with a little bit of luck, is not too difficult. Most terrains you walk through are easy paced, and good accommodation, after a long day's birding, is near at hand.

In addition to the endemics, there are a few species that have always been highlights of any visit. These are the Plum-headed Parakeet, Grey-bellied Cuckoo, Chestnut-winged Cuckoo, Sirkeer Malkoha, Indian Little Nightjar, Jerdon's Nightjar, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Trogon, White-naped Flameback, Kashmir Flycatcher, Pied Ground-thrush, Indian Pitta, Common Hawk-cuckoo, Indian Blue Robin to name a few.

Waterbirds like the Yellow Bittern, Chestnut Bittern, Black Bittern, Black-necked Stork, Lesser Adjutant, Slaty-legged Crake, Watercock, Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Yellow-wattled Lapwing, Eurasian Stone-curlew and Great Thick-knee, all these much sought-after by visiting bird-watchers are not difficult to see; and it is easy to find shore birds,gulls and terns like the KentishPlover, Lesser Sand Plover, Small Pratincole, Brown-headed Gull, Caspian Tern, Lesser Crested Tern, Great Crested Tern.
